Under the leadership of Royster Professor David Pfennig, the Royster Society of Fellows launched a speaker seminar series in the fall of 2012 to examine a number of interdisciplinary topics. In tandem with the UNC-wide “Rite of Spring at 100” project, the Fellows invited four guest scholars from three different disciplines to answer the question, “How did The Rite of Spring make it new?” The guest scholars were Severine Neff, Eugene Falk Distinguished Professor of Music; Erin Carlston, associate professor of English and Comparative Literature, Julie Janus Walters, Duke University assistant professor of the practice of dance; and Tyler Walters, Duke University associate professor of the practice of dance. The Drs. Walters also co-direct the Duke Ballet Repertory Ensemble.
